Verses 19-26 GROUP_1164 37.19-26
19
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
There will be but a single blast and then their eyes will open.
20
وَقَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا هَذَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ
They will say, ‘Woe to us! This is the Day of Reckoning.’
21
هَذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِي كُنتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ
[It will be said], ‘This is the Day of Judgement which you have been denying.’
22
احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَ
But We shall say, ‘Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped
23
مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَى صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ
besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire;
24
وَقِفُوهُمْ إِنَّهُم مَّسْئُولُونَ
and stop them there for questioning:
25
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ
“But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?”’—
26
بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ
indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves.

Commentary
(a) In the present world, tidings of the future life or life in the Hereafter, are regularly communicated. But man attaches no importance to this. In the Hereafter, the reality of future life will seize man. At that time, man will forget his arrogance and will prostrate himself before God. This will be an indescribably terrible scene. The position in which people will be, when they have gathered to be judged, on the Day of Resurrection (hashr) has been described in the above verses.
